Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentine Day!  Hope you have a Sweet Day!  As a little gift you you for this Valentines Day, I am re-posting a freebie I made last year.

You can download (no longer available).

New School Days Min Kit , Templates, Freebie

New in the shoppe today at CatScrap is my Road To Success Mini Kit.   A little touch of grunge, a little touch of simple, a little touch of vintage, and a little touch of fun all put together in this mini school kit.

Create lasting school memories with these fill in the blank Road to Success Road Maps in 12 x 12  and 8.5 by 11 size.   Or create a memorable Hybrid Project with your child's own handwriting by printing the .pdf's text files included with the road maps and layering with pre-printed scrapbook paper.  Also included is a template to create a pocket page (with instructions) for holding awards, report cards, and more

Templates come in psd, tiff, and separate png files.  Text also comes in png overlays and pdf's for printing.  The overlays and pdf files are sized to print on 8.5 x 11 paper you can layer with a 12 x 12 layout.

And for the next few days, you can get the kit and templates for 20% off.

I have a now 18 year old Senior in High School and a 12 year old 6th grader.  Ever since my oldest started preschool, I have been keeping a school days scrapbook of each year with all the details of her teachers, friends, favorites, and more.  I would print the fill-in the blank text pdf files onto a pre-printed 8.5 x 11 sheet of scrapbook paper from my local store.  I then bundled them together in a 3 ring binder.  Over the years, this collection has turned into a massive scrapbook of personal handwritten memories I truly cherish and I know one day so will my daughter.  This is her last year before starting college and the one binder I started 12 years ago has now turned into 3.

Once my youngest started school, I began printing these for him too.  Here are several hybrid pages from his books.  I really enjoy the personalized handwriten layouts more.  For his first couple of years in school, I would ask him the questions and write them down for him.  I would have him write only his signature.  After about 3rd grade, I started making him do all the writing.  With the hybird layouts, it shows not only his change of favorites over the years, but also the maturity of his signature and handwriting.

There is even a pocket page for each year, I created to hold report cards, awards, and teachers notes.

Here are some digital examples using products from my Road To Success Mini Kit.  This is also a great example of how you can use the 8.5 by 11 pdf files or overlays and layer on a 12 x 12 page.

And a freebie you can download HERE to help you get motivated with your project.  I created this last year and posting again for those of you who may not have had a chance to snag it:

This Word Art is actually a template.  Each color comes as a separate layer to customize with any papers.

An oldie but goodie I made last year.  You can pick up the full Road to Success Word Art in my shop.  Elements shown are included.

I hope you are inspired to start your school days album.  It truly is worth doing.

So have you all been wondering where I was?  No? Well, in case there are any of  you who have, I reached a Road Block and lost my motivation to do any scrapping or designing. Can you believe it? Well I have a very good reason.  See, my family, all 24 of us, (sisters, aunt, cousins, parents, 2nd cousins,) are taking a big vacation in the next week.  We are all going on a Disney Cruise to Alaska.  So that is where my mind in right now. Good excuse?  I hope to get a set of templates completed and in the shoppes before I go, but it is not looking too good.  So I will keep you all posted if I do.

Enjoy your freebie and have a great weekend!!!!

Do you like Road Games?

I love road games.  Anytime I took trips with my family, I would always have a pack of paper and crayons or markers to play games.  My favorite game was seeing if I could spot license plates from every state, especially when we drove from one coast to the other.  I always wanted to see if I could find all 50 US States, never did.  I always thought Alaska and Hawaii would be the hardest to find too and boy was I wrong.  It seemed to be a state like Louisianna or one you would not expect.  We always played Road Bingo too.

Traveling something can get boring and it never fails, you always seem to hit roadblocks on your journeys.  Today, I have a game to play with you all if you want to play along on our journey.  Don't let that roadblock stand in your way!!!!

I flipped through my dictionary and randomly picked a word with my eyes closed.  The word was "Prompt".  Are you Prompt?  NOT ME, LOL.  So I took this word and here is the layout I came up with using this word.  Do you think this photo was appropriate for the word, LOL.

This is my dog.  When I thought of this word, of course I thought of what my dog is lacking. You may have seen him before.  Remember this photo of him I showed you all earlier?

Big and smelly.  Well he does bring us lots of laughs. And frustration.  And messes. And anything you can think of.  I have a whole album of him and his nuisance.  He is distructive:

Let me see your take on this word.  If you are up to it, create a layout using this word as your title. I even turned the word and definition into a wordart freebie you can download HERE.  You don't have to use it.

If you create a layout with this word and include any Roadside Designs product, (template, any freebies, or parts of kits) your layout will be automatically entered for a chance to win a $5.00 Gift Certificate to the Roadside Designs Shoppe. Just be sure you post a link to your layout here in the comments.  You have till June15 to submit your layouts.

I am off now for the weekend, big party planned here at my house tomorrow night. I am looking forward to relaxing with friends and munching on good food.  Oh, BTW, I have been on a diet for the past 16 weeks and have lost 17 pounds as of yesterday!! ya Me!!! Boy do I feel good, but I still have 15 more to go.  So when I say I am looking forward to munching on good food, I really mean it, LOL.

Have a Fabulous Weekend and to all those of you in the USA, Happy Memorial Day!!!!
